8 years ago I had a great friend. Until this day he(my friend) has always been in my heart and always will be even though we lost contact. Not because of what I am about to tell you, but because of what he taught me and the what he did for me. I got a phone call the other night (August 25th 2000) I was told my friend had been in a car accident. There were 3 vehicles involved in the accident. Their car was hit by a drunk driver. The first vehicle had an eldery couple inside....The man died 2 days later as a result of his injuries. The elderly lady is now left all alone and saddened by the loss of her life long friend and love. My friend lay in intensive care trying to come to terms with the fact that he will most likely never walk again.
How is a young man of 28...energetic...lively...happy and enthusiastic with his whole life in front of him supposed to accept that he will never walk again??
I'd like to ask the drunk that hit them...but can't... as he got off lucky...he doesn't have to suffer.
His inconsiderate nature left the suffering to his family and the families of those of the other injured people. Is this fair?.....No!... So why do people continue to drink and drive when they know what could happen???
Because it can't happen to them ...right?.....WRONG!!!!
In my mind it would never have happened to my friend.....well it did and now there's nothing anyone can do to change it!
Innocent people are left to suffer from the careless actions of another.
So I ask you again....Is it worth taking the risk...Killing the innocent and possibly yoursel. Leaving people(loved ones) lonely and never being able to shake the pain of that loss or injury for the rest of their lives?.....I don't think so!!!!

After therapy and recuperation I went to see my friend and he is going to be ok...but will never forget and the scars will forever remain...inside and out!!

You may be one of those people that read this and think.....Yeah whatever....Well I was young once too....Ive been there, but I as like you are not invincible. If you don't have the respect and care to think about yourself...think about your family....MY family...and the families of those other drivers on the road!

I am a mother....I love and adore my children...They are my life...and I'll be damned if I am going to let one drunken inconsiderate fool take them from me, or me from them.
Please....Think before you drink!!!!!

All who were watching did not speak as a silent tear ran down his cheek.
And through his mind the memories ran of the moments they walked and laughed in the sand.
But now her eyes were so terribly cold for he would never again have her to hold.
They watched in silence as he bent near and whispered the words... " I LOVE YOU" in her ear.
He touched her face and started to cry as he put on his ring and wanted to die.
And just then the wind began to blow as they lowered her casket into the snow...
This is what happens to men alive... ...when friends let friends... DRINK AND DRIVE"!!!!!
